About Belgrade Montana

Belgrade, Montana was established in 1881 as a farming and ranching community, just outside of Bozeman, Montana. Still holding on to its farming and ranching origins, Belgrade’s population was 7,389 people in 2010. Located eight miles west of Bozeman and still within the gorgeous Gallatin Valley, the town offers similar access to outdoor fun while providing a friendly, welcoming community.

Belgrade has a working town atmosphere full of young families, old time ranchers and college students alike. Belgrade offers small town services and amenities not seen in larger Montana towns. Ranch supply stores, leather workers and more can still be found in Belgrade’s main commercial centers.

Many Belgrade residents commute to work in Bozeman. For this reason, property values will be lower in the area. Belgrade will not have nearly the sprawl of a town like Bozeman, making transport within the city very convenient. The Streamline bus system operates in Belgrade, making transportation within Belgrade, as well as between Belgrade and Bozeman all that much easier for its residents.

The nearby Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport makes transport across the nation and world convenient for business and pleasure travelers.

With three elementary schools, a middle and high school, the community offer small class sizes and individualized attention for its children.

Nestled between the Bridger Mountains, Spanish Peaks, and the Madison and Gallatin Ranges, Belgrade provides access to premier hiking, biking, skiing, snowmobiling, hunting and much more. Its location to Three Forks and the Missouri Headwaters make it easy to roll out of bed and find your stretch of river. Under an hour away from two top tier ski areas, Big Sky Resort and Bridger Bowl, the area attracts skiers from all over the world. Of course, Yellowstone National Park lies less than 100 miles from Belgrade, offering a once and a lifetime experience on a daily basis.

Belgrade offers access to a high proportion of amenities in the Gallatin Valley, while maintaining its small town culture. Come visit and see why more and more people continue to make Belgrade their Montana destination.
